Majella Murphy

Ireland first to launch music album exclusively on mobile phone

Rising Irish Star Majella Murphy debuts album exclusively on Sony Ericsson mobile phone available from O2 Ireland

Monday 22 May 2006 - For the first time ever a music artist has launched an entire album exclusively on a mobile phone. Up and coming singer songwriter, Majella Murphy, who hails from Kilkenny, has preloaded her new album "Brave New World" on the Sony Ericsson Z530i available exclusively from O2 Ireland. The album, which includes three live acoustic tracks will not go on general digital release until July 2006.

Speaking in Dublin today, Pat Hughes, Sony Ericsson, said, "As a world first, both Sony Ericsson and O2 are delighted to play a role in launching Majella Murphy's album exclusively via mobile phone. This marks an exciting time for the collaboration of music and mobile phones. Partnering with mobile technology provides a vital opportunity for gifted artists such as Majella to connect with audiences in new and more immediate ways".

Sony Ericsson's stylish and affordable Z530i, is a Triple Band GPRS clamshell camera phone. With features ranging from simple phone calls and text messages to a built in camera, PC connectivity and a music player, it is a phone for today and tomorrow. Its VGA stills and video camera is an ideal tool to capture, view and share images with 4x digital zoom. It has two high quality displays - the Ultra Bright Color 65k display and monochrome 1" sub display on the outer shell - to deliver a crisp, clear viewing experience. The phone has an expandable memory to 1GB and connectivity applications such as Bluetooth, USB2.0 support, standard push-email and full HTML Internet browser also help make the handset the ideal business companion.
